Firiona Vie

Firiona Vie is the wild forest on Kunark’s southern coast, named for a high elf princess, where the elves of Faydwer are rebuilding an old beachhead and where most travellers from the west first land.

The elves return

A community wiki says the land is named after a high elf princess. It is a very wild forest and the site of a beachhead the elves of Faydwer set up long ago. After being abandoned for a long time, the elves have come back to rebuild their fortress. For the princess herself and the elves’ goddess, see Firiona Vie and Tunare.

a classic zone atlas calls the zone highly dangerous: almost everything, apart from the Firiona drixies, attacks every creature it meets, so the only safe place is the high elf compound itself. Druids should not walk up to the guards in wolf form, and evil races should keep away from the docks and from the caves to the Dreadlands, which high-level guards patrol.

Drolvarg and drachnids

Two creatures are the bane of travellers, a player guide says. The drolvarg, a very aggressive breed of gnoll, have moved into an old tomb in the eastern woods and send out large, fast patrols. The drachnids, spellcasting spider creatures around level 30, wander the whole forest, more often in the west, and they haunt the route young adventurers take from the dock toward the Lake of Ill Omen.

Monsters grow stronger the further east you go, and a player guide notes that hunters can pull safely toward the dock area.

Pirates and giants

Among the forest’s other inhabitants a classic zone atlas lists froglok knights and shamans, goblin raiders and casters, forest giants, lampreys and leeches. Its notable figures include Red Eye Jack and a pirate destroyer and cartographer, an ancient jasarth and Vekis.

Roads onward

A classic zone atlas gives four neighbours: the Dreadlands through the guarded caves, the Lake of Ill Omen, the Swamp of No Hope and the Timorous Deep. Ships across the Deep tie the docks to Butcherblock on Faydwer and the Oasis of Marr on Antonica.

a classic zone atlas gives the way inland. The boat to the Timorous Deep and Butcherblock arrives at the dock; to reach the Lake of Ill Omen, follow the stream just west of the ramp up to the mainland into the hills. Several zone lines to the Swamp of No Hope lie scattered along the forest’s northern edge.
