Timorous Deep
The Timorous Deep is the island-dotted ocean between Kunark and the rest of Norrath, crossed by the ships to Firiona Vie and the Overthere and scattered with outposts, outcasts, predators and old ruins.
The ocean
The EQ Atlas and the Project 1999 Wiki describe the Deep as the ocean that lies between Kunark and the other continents. Islands stretch across it, holding a mix of Norrath’s modern powers, those who have fallen out of their societies, natural predators and ancient civilisations. The Atlas warns that it is easy to get lost: there are long stretches of nothing but water, and knowing how to use /loc or sense heading saves a lot of time.

The islands
The Raptor Islands are probably the most dangerous, the Atlas says: their raptors are in their mid-40s, very aggressive, with wide aggro ranges, and they swim faster than you. On the iceberg live golras in their mid-20s, and sometimes a much stronger one named Halara. An ogre camp has the dangerous Great Oowomp, and the spirocs fight together and are as strong as the raptors, though less aggressive. Bandits, undead, ogres and elves also attack those they dislike.

The Combine room
In the southwestern corner of the Deep, around a teleportation room of the Combine Empire, the Atlas describes an aggressive dragon that swims in the water and is as powerful as Nagafen. He is a triggered spawn, rarely seen, and is usually killed quickly by an NPC in the zone if the group that triggered him cannot.

Routes across the Deep
The Atlas lists four neighbours: Butcherblock Mountains on Faydwer, Firiona Vie, the Oasis of Marr on Antonica and the Overthere. The good races land at the elves’ docks in Firiona Vie; the evil races come ashore at the Overthere outpost.
The Atlas calls the Deep a trade and transport route between Kunark and the other continents, with good, little-crowded hunting for a wide range of levels; only the ogre camp tends to be busy. Many players have never seen most of it. Among its sights are an inn hidden at the southernmost edge, probably once a hermit’s hideaway, and, in the far southwest, an underwater portal room reached by a tunnel on the ocean bed inside a Combine teleportation ring. Its fire pots send you one way to many of Norrath’s cities, though not most human ones.
