Ruins of an empire

A classic zone atlas describes a vast swampy area in the mountains of the same name. Its most notable feature is the ruin of Sebilis, the ancient Iksar city; the remains of a great aqueduct run from the small lake toward the old city, and the city and the land around it are now full of the tormented dead. A player guide adds that streams from the lake feed the Swamp of No Hope to the west and flow in and around the ruins.

Trakanon’s victory

A community wiki tells the history. Sebilis was the capital of the Iksar Empire, founded by Emperor Venril Sathir. After Emperor Ganak was destroyed over the Field of Bone, a rogue faction of the Ring of Scale led by Trakanon rained death on the capital, and Trakanon stayed to revel in his victory. The city now lies below the ruins, and the Iksar who survived moved to New Sebilis, which is Cabilis. A player guide adds that slave uprisings, goblin invasions and forest giant attacks had already weakened the empire before Trakanon’s blow.

Dangers

Many of the creatures here are aggressive and hard to see against the undergrowth, a classic zone atlas says. Frogloks of every kind are common, and the trakaraptors and trakanasaurs roam freely and attack. Move quickly and know your heading: the monsters will often let you pass if you keep moving, but stop to look around and you will be jumped. Spectral keepers and other guardians stay at the small ruins in the jungle or behind the wall of Sebilis.

Notable figures include the Trakanasaurus Rex, the Hangman, Silvermane and, by the Field of Bone story, the spirit of Emperor Ganak, whom a community wiki places in this zone.

Roads onward

A classic zone atlas lists the Emerald Jungle, the Swamp of No Hope and Sebilis as its neighbours. A community wiki notes that a Trakanon idol, won through the Key to Sebilis quest, is needed to enter the old city.
