Rodcet Nife, the Prime Healer

Every cleric who swore the Nife Oath in Qeynos served Rodcet Nife. One tome claims he came from somewhere very dark.

The renegade Jal’Raeth

If one quest tome is right, the Prime Healer began among the undead. Its writings of the Jal’Raeth speak of one renegade in their number, a pacifist who saw undeath not as a gift of eternal life but as a curse: Rodcet Nife. He went on to visit many realms, healing and strengthening frail mortals with powers that rivalled the dark powers of his kind, and the tome speaks of rituals of resurrection. It is meant to be carried to the Anagogical Order in Qeynos.

The Prime Healer

Whatever his origin, he rules the Plane of Health as a spindly humanoid of no known race in a short robe. Karana, Quellious, Erollisi Marr and Prexus are his allies, and only Bertoxxulous opposes him.

The Nife Oath

His faithful swear to fight disease and death until one or the other claims them. They are humble and generous and ask only that those they help pass the kindness on. They do not merely clean up after plague; they hunt down its sources. Healers and mystics take the oath, and so do many rangers and paladins, in the belief that one day the wounded heart of the universe will be mended.

The Temple of Life

His house on Norrath is the Temple of Life in Qeynos. A leaflet handed out in the city calls him “the air which we breathe and the rhythm of our hearts,” ruling from “his iron temple high in the Plane of Health,” and urges readers to walk to his temple. Inside, the High Priestess Jahnda welcomes new clerics, Camlend Serbold, “Serbold the Great,” leads the paladins who serve the temple, and the resident healer Tonmerk Plorsin cures disease and poison for any citizen of Qeynos.

Quests in his name

Many of the city’s early errands begin at his door. Brother Estle, waiting outside for blessed oil, teaches that “there can be no true life until your soul is healed by healing others.” Astaed Wemor sends a potion sweetened with honey jum to Lempeck Hargrin, a sick member of the congregation out in the west plains of Karana. Beneath the temple Enic Ruklin guards the Pool of Jahnda, home of the koalindl fish. And in the Lair of the Splitpaw, Brother Hayle names Xicotl, the evil troll who tried to steal Soulfire from the temple’s vaults, and warns that the cells lock behind you.

The seeress of the silent age

Long after, when the gods had been silent for ages and faith seemed about to die, a young child in EverQuest II’s Norrath began to dream clairvoyant, prophetic dreams. She became Seeress Ealaynya Ithis, “Seeress, Shepherd and Prophet to the most selfless of the supreme deities, Rodcet Nife,” and wrote three books of prophecy before a vision of her own death.

Where the sources disagree

The Jal’Raeth origin appears in one quest tome and is not repeated in the deity descriptions; treat it as one in-world account.
