Allakhazam’s class guide sums the druid up as a priest of nature who brings strong healing, damage or support as the moment demands, can use portal spells, and solos well.

What a druid does

Druids are disciples of the wild who follow Norrath’s gods of nature. They are mainly spellcasters, wearing leather and wielding blunt weapons and scimitars.

Their magic lets them fill many roles. They have excellent healing, strong mana and health regeneration spells, and buffs that raise their group’s health and armor.

On offense they are powerful and versatile: fire and cold damage, disease and insect-swarm spells that hurt over time, and banishing spells against unnaturally summoned creatures. They also have some of the best travel spells, speeding up their group and teleporting it to distant regions.

The official text calls druids well-rounded: able to adventure alone and equally at home in a group.

The epic: Nature Walkers Scimitar

Epic quests came to EverQuest in September 2000, shortly after The Ruins of Kunark. They were modelled on the paladin’s Fiery Avenger quest: long, multi-step journeys through the highest-level dungeons, usually needing groups to kill powerful creatures. Each ended in a unique weapon with its own model and particle effects. The druid’s reward was the Nature Walkers Scimitar, with the effect Wrath of Nature.

Who could be one

In the classic era recreated by Project 1999, the druid epic could be used by Human, Wood Elf, Half Elf, Halfling. The Iksar appear there because they joined with The Ruins of Kunark.

Playing a druid today

The class is still in the game on Daybreak’s live and time-locked progression servers. Project 1999 recreates the Classic, Kunark and Velious eras, so it has the original fourteen classes. See EverQuest Today for where the game stands now.
