What a cleric does
Clerics dedicate their lives to the gods of Norrath and gain magical power in exchange for their faith and service. They are mainly spellcasters, but they wear plate and wield blunt weapons.
Their healing and enhancement spells greatly raise their group’s health and defenses and keep everyone alive in the most dangerous fights. Other priests can heal, but the official text says none can match the power and efficiency of a cleric’s healing.
Clerics are potent enemies of the undead and can channel their faith into destructive banishment spells. Resurrection is theirs too: they can bring fallen companions back without the usual penalties for death.
With a few exceptions they depend on a group, and every group wants one. The official text recommends the class to social players.

The epic: Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh
Epic quests came to EverQuest in September 2000, shortly after The Ruins of Kunark. They were modelled on the paladin’s Fiery Avenger quest: long, multi-step journeys through the highest-level dungeons, usually needing groups to kill powerful creatures. Each ended in a unique weapon with its own model and particle effects. The cleric’s reward was the Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh, with the effect Reviviscence.
Who could be one
In the classic era recreated by Project 1999, the cleric epic could be used by Human, Erudite, High Elf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome. The Iksar appear there because they joined with The Ruins of Kunark.

Titles
After level 50, each class earns titles that show in /who. A cleric became a Vicar at 51, a Templar at 55 and a High Priest at 60.

Playing a cleric today
The class is still in the game on Daybreak’s live and time-locked progression servers. Project 1999 recreates the Classic, Kunark and Velious eras, so it has the original fourteen classes. See EverQuest Today for where the game stands now.
